This is a multi-agency project. Staff include social workers, primary mental health workers, health visitors, clinical and educational psychologists, play therapists and child psychotherapists. The aim is to develop a multi-agency approach to assessment, and to support parents in accessing the service or range of services which is most likely to meet their child's needs.
The team undertakes short-term casework, preferably co-working with referrers and this work can take place on an outreach basis - in a school or GP practice or at the client's home. Consultation is also offered to referrers on child mental health issues. The age range covered by the service is 0-18 years.
There is also a walk-in service for parents who are worried about their children or teenagers, which is held at the Parkside Clinic nearby.
Referrals are accepted from concerned professionals and from parents themselves. Referral can be made by letter, by telephone or by completing a referral form.
