The multi-disciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service offers general assessment, treatment and consultation at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The department also provides an outpatient service for complex cases.
The multi-disciplinary team includes Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists, a Family Psychotherapist, Child Psychotherapists, a Social Services representative, and an Art Therapist. Additionally, we provide a rapid assessment service for acute crisis.
Referrals are accepted from Child and Adolescent Health professionals, including GPs, paediatricians, social services and education. All referrals are discussed in the weekly multi-disciplinary meeting and routine appointments are sent within a week of the referral. Emergency referrals are seen on the day of the referral. The age range is 0-18 years.
Treatment models include family therapy, marital therapy for parents, individual psychotherapy, art therapy, behavioural/cognitive therapy and a medical/psychiatric model of therapy.
