The service runs a number of onsite workshops and training sessions through the course of the year. This is both for The Kingswood Centre staff and other individuals and staff teams who work with people who have learning disabilities, mental health difficulties and challenging behaviour.
Courses cover diverse topics and include particular aspects of working with clients, assessing and managing mental health problems and challenging behaviour, and staff awareness and development consultation workshops.
Our training services can also provide workshops designed specifically for particular staff or staff groups that may be held off-site, and we work with a range of different external agencies including advocacy services, mental health services, other learning disability services, residential homes and private and voluntary agencies.
The following are examples of workshops
- Physical intervention training consisting of a full 5-day course, a 1 day breakaway course, and a yearly 3-day refresher
- Protection of vulnerable adults 1 day course
