Assessments provided
Everyone referred to The Kingswood Centre Learning Disabilities Service receives a pre-admission assessment so we can establish the needs of the service user and their suitability for admission. Referrers are then provided with a written assessment report.
On admission the medical team assesses each service user and an initial treatment plan is drawn up within 6 hours. The consultant psychiatrist will then see service users within 24 hours of admission and a multidisciplinary treatment plan is completed within 7 days.
A Care Programme Approach care plan is convened within 4 weeks of admission, which looks at the full range of social and healthcare needs of the client. Full assessments by psychiatric, nursing and psychology staff are usually completed within 6-8 weeks of admission.
The majority of the assessments and treatments are conducted at the centre and the local community although pre-admission assessment at home, in hospital wards, day centres or other community settings is valuable in treatment planning.
