Involving people who have used our service is important for us. Our service users have assisted in recruiting and selecting new staff as an important part of interview panels. They have also promoted the service and acted as advocates at various conferences and feedback forums, as well as assisting in developing the service.
One of our service users has taken on the role of facilitator to engage potential clients in the community, who would like to talk to someone who has experienced having substance misuse issues, to discuss a potential programme of care.
In addition our staff are happy to attend community-based services and speak to the staff and service users about substance misuse and the impact on significant relationships.
