The Meanwhile Family Therapy Service runs a number of workshops at its offices in Elkstone Road for individuals and staff teams who work with people who have relationship difficulties, and/or substance misuse problems. They cover diverse topics and include all aspects of working with clients, their relationships and their interaction with the system around them.
Our training services can also provide workshops designed specifically for treatment agencies that may be held off-site. We can work with agencies offering psychotherapy and substance misuse services, designing courses specifically tailored to their particular needs. When designing training workshops it is important for us to gain an understanding of the organisation concerned so that we can provide practical solutions that fit the specific environment.
The following are examples of workshops we have run or are planning to run:
- Parental skills package
- Family issues and child protection in substance use
- Working with couples affected by substance use systemically and in a solution-focused way
- Psychodynamic aspects of working with couples affected by substance use
- Family dynamics and substance use –family interaction model
- Applying solution-focused approach to substance use
- Assessing the relationship difficulties in substance-using clients
- Young people. Substance use. Family issues.
The Meanwhile Family Therapy Service works flexibly to assist our colleagues with ongoing support issues through consultation services. We offer regular group support to teams working with specific issues in their services. In the past this has included: community drug/alcohol teams, maternal health team, young people’s workers and other health professionals.
In addition we work on an individual basis offering supervision to students on placement and to individual workers who find a systemic perspective helpful to their practice.
We are open to discussing any issues relevant to a particular case with the worker either over the telephone or at one-to-one appointments.
