The ward serves as an assessment service that actively works towards promoting independent living for older adults with mental health problems. This ward has 24 beds for men and women over 65 years of age, who have mental health care needs and require inpatient care.
The ward provides facilities for admission, assessment and treatment, liasing with outside agencies for continuing rehabilitation and care. The service is open 24 hours a day.
Referrals can come from other hospitals, internal services, social services and family members.
