Occupational Therapists work on the ward, Belvedere Day Hospital and at clients homes in the community. Occupational therapists provide assessments and therapy for older adults with mental health needs promoting independent living and optimum quality of life. Therapy is carried out individually and/or in groups.
Occupational Therapists are concerned with the meaning and purpose that the individual places on occupation and activities and the impact the illness, disability or deprivation has on their ability to carry out those occupations.
Occupational Therapists aim to maintain, restore or create a balance between the abilities of the person and demands of his occupations in the areas of self-care, productivity, leisure and the environment the individual lives in. The service is available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. Referrals are received from all disciplines within the Brent Older Adult services.
