Service description:
The Blenheim Day Centre specialises in the care and support of older people (65 years and above) who live in the community and are diagnosed with memory impairment. The activities and therapies are provided in a group or on an individual basis.
Consultant psychiatrists, admiral and community nurses, GP and other health care professionals can make referrals to the service.
The service provides 18 places and is open between 08:30hrs - 16:30hrs, Monday to Friday.
Clients are collected between 09:30hrs and 10:30hrs, and leave the centre at 15:00hrs for their return journey. The service is staffed by a mixed team of qualified nurses, an occupational therapist and experienced day centre workers.
Within a friendly and relaxed environment, the service provides:
- A weekly programme of activities which is structured around the individual needs of the clients
- Help with personal care and laundry, if needed
- Transport to and from the client's house
- Lunch, tea and coffee
The service aims to meets clients' social and health needs through group work. . It seeks to identify and utilise the clients' strength to increased confidence, maximise functioning and improve quality of life. Outings and parties are a regular feature and integral part of the service provision.
