The Community Psychiatric Team provides services for people aged 65 years and over with mental health problems living within North East Westminster. Appointments are set up at a time convenient for clients in their home or in other community settings.
Referrals are made to the Consultant Psychiatrist via the GP. Weekly reviews of new referrals are held and an initial consultation is arranged with the most appropriate member of the multidisciplinary team. The team consists of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Staff Grade Doctor, SHO, Community Mental Health Nurses, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, and Family Therapist.
Medical review is provided and support in the form of counselling, therapeutic groups, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Anxiety Management, Ongoing sessions and liaison with other professionals.
A member of the team is available each day from Monday-Friday via the duty system for urgent referrals and initial assessment.
