The Adult Psychology Service provides direct treatment for a range of mental health difficulties and disorders. A range of structured interventions is provided, primarily behavioural and cognitive treatment. Generally, most treatment is of a time-limited / short to medium-term nature, i.e. normally less than 8-10 sessions.
All patients referred who are accepted on the waiting list for assessment are sent a brief Assessment Questionnaire and an Information Sheet describing the service. Patients unable to complete the questionnaire should contact the department. All patients then receive an assessment by a clinical psychologist prior to a decision regarding the suitability and nature of any treatment offered. Patients need to be between 16-65 years of age, living in the North Westminster catchment area and must be referred in writing by their doctor or other health professional.
