Service description:
The Liaison Psychiatry Service provides a 24-hour service for the assessment and management of psychological problems at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. The department offers the following services:

A psychiatric assessment service for St. Mary's Hospital Accident & Emergency Department.

A Liaison Psychiatry Service for both inpatients and outpatients of St Mary's Hospital, including specialist psychiatric and psychological services for people with HIV.
The service is staffed at present by seven G Grade Liaison Nurse Specialists based in the A&E Department, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as well as one HIV Nurse Specialist, one Staff Grade Psychiatrist, one SHO Trainee, one SpR, and a cognitive behavioural therapist. Outpatient clinics for psychiatric follow-up of both inpatients and outpatients of St. Mary's operate from the Paterson Centre. HIV Liaison Clinics operate from Wharfside Clinic, Jeffris Wing.
The service does not see people with primary drug and alcohol problems. Inpatients at St. Mary's who are over the age of 65 are seen by the Older Adults Psychiatry Services from St Charles Hospital.
