Routes to Employment provides support to mental health service users in Westminster to get ready for, seek and sustain paid employment. Within the back-to-work process the service typically provides:
· Assessments relating to employment and action planning
· Advice and guidance to clients around employment goals
· Help to seek advice regarding benefits
· CV preparation
· Help with job searching
· Practice for Interviews
· Help to consider disclosure of health history
Since April 2007 the RTE service has been provided by CNWL NHS Foundation Trust under a contract from Westminster City Council and Westminster Primary Care Trust.
The service is open to mental health service users who; live in Westminster, are aged 18 or over, are under the care of a Westminster CMHT (or equivalent) and want and are ready to return to or start paid work.
While there is no expectation that a client should be ‘job ready’ at the point of referral to the service, we expect that clients should (with support from RTE) be able to work within 6 months of the referral being made. It is extremely valuable for a professional referring someone to the service to spend time with that person thinking about his/her vocational goals and readiness to actively engage with the return to work process, prior to making a referral to RTE.
The referral should be made on the RTE referral/application form and be sent with an up to date risk assessment and the most recent CPA review form. If an OT assessment, Worker Role Interview, or basic vocational screening tool has been completed recently it is helpful to send this too.
Please do not hesitate to call if you have any questions or require any more information, we welcome initial discussions about the appropriateness of any referral over the telephone. Please click on the link below for a referral form.
