Waterview Centre

The  Waterview Centre  offers a focused and evidenced based service to people between the ages of 18-65 from North Kensington and North Westminster. We provide a core treatment programme for people with personality disorder and specific out-patient interventions for people with psychoses.

The multi-disciplinary team maintains a therapeutic environment, providing safe and consistent boundaries within a psychoanalytically informed framework. The core programme is for those with a primary diagnosis of personality disorder or other mental health problems where personality disturbance complicates their treatment. Such patients include those who have experienced transient psychotic symptoms, or those with chronic neuroses and interpersonal problems. Our primary aim is to help people develop better ways of coping and avoid unplanned use of inpatient and emergency services. We provide individual and group-based psychological interventions together with creative and skills-based groups with the aim of enabling people to reduce maladaptive ways of coping and better manage affect, to establish a more stable sense of self, to help people engage in more constructive interpersonal relationships and behaviours, and to enhance the level involvement in their communities. Team members care co-ordinate individuals in accordance with CPA guidelines.

We also offer out-patient treatments for people with psychoses. We aim to improve functioning in the community and reduce the likelihood of readmission to hospital. Group-based interventions include those that focus on relapse prevention, developing goal setting and coping skills, facilitating access to vocational opportunities and specific arts therapies treatments. Team members link work clients but do not take on the role of CPA care coordination. We will liaise with the community teams in order to monitor progress.
