Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest specialist NHS mental health trusts in England with 3,100 employees serving more than 100 sites.
Our Services
A range of comprehensive mental health and social care services are provided for people of all ages across the boroughs of Brent, Harrow, Hillingdon, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. Specialist substance misuse services are provided for residents in Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow, Hillingdon, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. Learning Disabilities services are provided for residents in Brent. In addition the Trust provides prison mental health services for Wormwood Scrubs.
The aim of these services is to offer clients the appropriate care and support they need. Many of the services have an integrated approach to both long and short-term care, which includes planning of care in the most appropriate place (ie at home or in hospital). The Trust's services are constantly being developed and improved to provide modern, dependable mental health services that meet the needs of people with mental health problems, their carers and families, and those of the wider community.
Our Background
CNWL became a Foundation Trust on 1 May 2007. Prior to this the Trust was known as Central and North West London Mental Health NHS Trust. Here is a brief history of how the Trust has developed in recent years:
2002
Trust formed following merger of following organisations:
- BKCW Mental Health NHS Trust
- Harrow and Hillingdon Healthcare Trust
- The Substance Misuse Service component of Hounslow which was previously provided by Hounslow and Spelthorne Community and Mental Health NHS Trust
2003
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health service for Hillingdon joined the Trust
2005
- Substance Misuse Services for Brent joined CNWL
2006
- Hillingdon Mental Health Service for adults, older adults and substance misuse joined the Trust
- Harrow Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services joined CNWL
2007
- Kingsbury Community Hospital Learning Disabilities Service joined CNWL
