The Family Day Unit runs a multi-family program conducted in a purpose built facility which is designed to enable families to interact in multiple and varied contexts.  Within the Family Day Unit real life situations are recreated around everyday issues enabling families to discover new solutions to problematic family patterns and interactions.

The presence of other families with very similar dilemmas means that families help each other to discover solutions, share ideas and advice and offer feedback within their peer group.  Being just one of several families with similar predicaments is generally a unique experience for the families on the programme and this tends to reduce feelings of social isolation and stigmatisation, thereby allowing families to be less defensive and more open to change.

We are able to offer various packages of intensive work with groups of families at the Family Day Unit.  Treatment packages are multi-disciplinary and can include input from Adult and Child Psychiatry, Adult and Child Psychotherapy, Clinical Psychology, Education, Social Work and Family Therapy.

The Family Day Unit runs a tailor-made assessment/therapy service which can involve individual families as well as multiple family work.
