This clinic was started by Beverly Tydeman, Head Child Psychotherapist and operated in the form of a workshop providing training for members of the multidisciplinary team. Since then a small service has been developed for parents with mental health issues and their infants. It is also available to parents struggling with difficulties of family life with young infants including tensions in a family as a result of the arrival of a baby, another child, or step-children.
In addition, a research team has formed, devising a manualised treatment intervention for parents suffering from post-birth depression. There is a plan for this to lead to a prospective study, evaluating the outcome of interventions.
